SRM students relive their old days

It was a moment to cherish for the students of SRM Vadapalani campus. Alumni Meet 2022 gave the old students an opportunity to relive their life at the college more than 100 students had all praises to heap on their alma mater.

The event themed as ‘Time to Reminisce’ saw the participation of more than 112 students of the institution which is popularly known as SRMIST Vadapalani. This is the third alumni meet.

Alumni from Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering interacted with their old friends at the college.

Tamogna Chakravarthi who arrived for the meet all the way from Kolkata said progress in life required two elements-hunger for success and foundation. Tamogna was the first student to have registered for taking part in this event.

SRM Vadapalani was where they had the foundation academically which helped them grow in life, he said. Other students too had similar viewpoints to share about their alma mater which gave them the knowledge that helped them stand with pride in their lives.

Programme also brought in nostalgia along with an element of entertainment where former students danced to the tune of popular film songs. Welcoming the gathering, Dean of CET Vadapalani Dr C V Jayakumar said the institution began in a humble manner in 2009 with about 100 students.

Steadfast progress was seen for the institution since then, currently, the institution has an alumni strength of more 3000 who have proved their mettle at all corners of the world, said Jayakumar.

Dr Ravi Pachamoothoo, Pro-Chancellor (Admin) of SRMIST in his message said it is utmost pleasure to wish all the alumni and look forward earnestly to their continued involvement in the coming years as they march ahead together towards a new era of achievements under the banner of SRMIST Vadapalani.

Ms Harini Ravi, Correspondent, SRM Valliammai Engineering College and SRM Arts and Science College in her message said it was a matter of great pride to see the students who once studied and grew in the institution.

‘I also hope that they learned many life lessons which helped them in their careers after graduation. It’s a wonderful feeling to look back at all the memories made and relive the good old days.’

Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs (SRMIST Kattankulathur) Dr Radha Ravindran urged the alumni to focus on their careers while allotting a good deal of time for their families. ‘Try to stay away from gadgets for at least an hour every day and spend with your family members.’

Director of Communications at SRMIST Dr R Nandakummar asked the alumni to focus on job creation. It is delightful to know that more than 112 students arrived to take part in the event, if each one of you can provide jobs to another 112 people we can bring down the concerns caused by unemployment, he said.

Moments turned more special with the release of alumni souvenir. Nandakummar released ‘The Book of Events’ and Ratha Ravindran received the first copy. Souvenir comprised the contributions made by students to their alma mater. Former students of the institution had a photo shoot along with the dignitaries. Dr V Rajasekar, head of Alumni Cell at SRM Vadapalani proposed vote of thanks.
