Alumni Reunion

The Alumni Meet of 2022 opened the floodgates for the old students of SRM IST Vadapalani campus to retrace and relive their memory lanes of their college life. It was a moment to cherish for the students. There was a capacity strength of 122 alumni besides their accomplices who made a huge impact on the day heaping praises and encomiums on their alma mater.

The event themed as ‘Time to Reminisce’ was the third alumni meet of SRM IST Vadapalani. The Alumni of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering interacted with their old friends of the college at Hotel Ramada Plaza, Sardar Patel Road, Chennai.

Mr. Tamogna Chakraborthi who arrived for the meet all the way from Kolkata addressing his colleagues said that progress in life requires two elements – hunger for success and a strong foundation at the basic. Tamogna was the first student to have registered for taking part in this mega event. He went on to say that the students had the hunger in them and SRM VDP provided the foundation. A bird’s eye view of the viewpoints of the other alumni too echoed the same that their alma mater made them stand with pride on their own.

The event also brought in nostalgia with an element of entertainment where the former students had a rare privilege of shaking their legs with the present students to the tune of popular songs.

Dr.C.V.Jayakumar, Dean CET, VDP welcomed the gathering with a brief history of the inception of SRMIST Vadapalani that had just over 600 students to start with in the year 2009. Since then the institution has grown from strength to strength. It has now over 6000 students to its kitty as the alumni shining across the globe, recalled Dr.C.V.Jayakumar.

Dr.Ravi Pachamoothoo, Pro-Chancellor (Admin) SRMIST in his message declared that it is a pleasure to wish all the alumni and look forward earnestly to their continued involvement in the coming years as they march ahead together towards a new era of achievements under the banner of SRMIST Vadapalani.

Ms.Harini Ravi, Correspondent, SRM Valliammai Engineering College and SRM Arts and Science College in her message portrayed it was a matter of great pride to see the students who once studied and grew in the institution. ‘I also hope that they learned many life lessons which helped them in their careers after graduation. It’s a wonderful feeling to look back at all the memories made and relive the good old days.’

The Assistant Director, Alumni Affairs Mrs. Radha Ravindran addressing the alumni urged them to focus on their career balancing a good deal of time with their families. She emphatically appealed to the alumni ‘To stay away from gadgets for at least an hour every day and spend the time with their family members.’

Mr.R.Nandakumar, Director Communications SRMIST requested the alumni to focus on being job creators rather than job seekers.

The occasion turned out to be more special with the release of the Alumni Souvenir. Mr. R. Nandakumar released ‘The Book of Events’ and Mrs. Radha Ravindran received the first copy. The souvenir comprised the contributions made by the alumni to their alma mater. The former students of the institution were highly delighted to have had a photo shoot with the other dignitaries.

Dr V Rajasekar, Head Alumni Cell at SRM Vadapalani proposed the vote of thanks and the curtains came down with the national anthem.
