ELECTRUM, the official club of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was inaugurated on 8th February 2010. The fundamental goal is to foster the process of learning and inculcate the radical approach of understanding in students. It conducts various events like guest lectures, seminars, technical workshops, Symposiums and Conferences. Electrum aims to bridge the gap between the rapidly expanding world of electronics and the student crowd thus, providing the department with insight into the highly evolved branch. This association looks forward to join research with other student chapters, funded projects and synergy with other departments in order to boost the technological scope for innovation.

AARAMBH is a start-up club of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) Vadapalani Campus that brings together the young minds with dreams of becoming an entrepreneur in the field of engineering and technology. The ECE department conducted the first Start up conclave on 9th April, 2016. The event received a huge response from the students. So, the department came up with the idea of forming a startup club for the students. The club was named AARAMBH and several aspiring future entrepreneurs registered for its membership. The club was officially inaugurated on 26th September, 2016.
AARAMBH ’16 a youth start-up conclave was held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Vadapalani on the 9th of April, 2016. This event was attended by 135 participants consisting of a varied audience of students and corporate from all over the country. It was primarily targeted at budding entrepreneurs, engineers and professionals aspiring to launch their own venture.
Dr. C.Gomathy welcomed the guest speakers and participants and Dr. K.Duraivelu delivered a special address. Then Dr. A Shirly Edward highlighted on the start-up initiative by the final year students. 8 delegates from different sectors in the startup ecosystem were special speakers at the event. The inauguration ceremony was followed by 3 informative and inspiring keynote speeches by Mr. RAJESH SRINIVAS, Group executive Vice President of Yes bank, Mr. HRISHIKESH DATAR , Entrepreneur and Founder CEO of vakilsearch.com, the leading online legal services provider in India and Mr.K. PARASURAMAN, The Director of Samriddhi Leadership academy.
The speakers covered various aspects of a startup; its initiation, financial management and its sustenance. After Lunch, the next session started which had a panel discussion by Mr.L.Hemachandran, Founder and CEO, Brand Avatar, Mr.John Yesudhas, CEO of Gadget World, Mr.Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy (Moderator for the panel discussion), Copy editor, Virtual paper, Mr.Viresh Reddy , Founder, Toast Technologies and Mr.Kevin William David, Co-Founder, Wallet-Kit. There was an interactive session where the participants spoke to the guests and cleared their doubts. The event succeeded in encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship and took a big step forward in creating the leaders of tomorrow.Organising Team |

On April 8th, 2017 AARAMBH conducted its Youth Conclave Summit for the year of 2017. The event was inaugurated by nine eminent personalities who are achievers in real life. The guests were Mr. Ravindran Natarajan, Mr. Suneil Chawla, Ms. Kirthi Jayakumar and Mr. Aasife Ahmed as the keynote speakers and Mr. Binny Rajkumar, Mr. Senthil Nayagam, Mr. L. Hemachandran, Mr. Shashikanth Jayaraman as the panel members and Mr. Parasuraman Krishnamoorthy as the moderator for the Panel discussion.
Dr.C.Gomathy, HOD/ECE, started the event by welcoming all the guests and the audience. The Dean, Dr. K. Duraivelu(E&T) gave an insight on Startup India and Make in India in his special address. Asst Prof. Mrs. Shirley Edward gave an introduction about AARAMBH and stated that the Youth Conclave Summit’17 is second in the series of the conclaves conducted by AARAMBH. The Dean felicitated the guests with mementos. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the SOCH – business model presentation event which was conducted earlier.

Ravichandran (Founder & CEO of Terafast Networks) followed by Mr. Binny Rajkumar (Founder of Arrit Events), Ms. Jyothsna Ramachandran (Founder of Happy Self Publishing), Mr. Santhosh Palavesh (Founder and CEO of UMM Digital), Mr. Karthik Swamy (Founder of I-Core Technologies), Mr. Anand Srinivasan (Managing Director of Fully) as the panel members and Mr. Shashikanth Jayaraman as the moderator for the Panel discussion.

The iconic event of startup club of DECE, SRMIST, vadapalani – AARAMBH 2021 was conducted on 15 th September 2021. The chief guest for the event was Dr Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of Spacekidz India Private Limited. And Mr Ajit Joshi, Founder and CEO of Corporate Recipes was the guest of Honour for the event. Dr S karthik,A.P./ECE welcomed the gathering and presented a glimpse on AARAMBH 2021 and its earlier editions. The inauguration event was presided by the campus dean Dr C V Jayakumar. He insisted the various aspects of entrepreneurship and delivered the speech on importance of entrepreneurial skills among the budding engineers. The special address was delivered by Dr C Gomathy, Vice Principal (Academics and Placements). She pointed out the roles and responsibilities of an entrepreneur and the need for startups.
The chief guest of the event Dr Srimathy Kesan, who founded Spacekidz India shared her expertise in terms of startup and how she founded the spacekidz india. Her speech was so thought provoking and motivated all participants towards the entrepreneurship skills.
The special address was given by Mr Ajit Joshi, Founder of Corporate Recipes and also he conducted a workshop on “ Idea Brainstorming”. It was a very successful event and attracted 100+ participants from different institutions.
In the afternoon session, the startup panel discussion on the topic “ Atmanirbhar Bharath” was conducted. Mr Varatharajan M, venture Partner, iDrive capital moderated the discussion panel. The panel members were Mr Lakshmi Shankar, CEO of Top Reach Solutions and Mr Rifath Sharook, CTO and Lead Scientist of Spacekidz India. Various aspects of Atmanirbhar Bharath was discussed and participants were actively participated in the discussion and made it so interactive.
The event was ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Sruthika – Student coordinator of AARAMBH 2021. The event was coordinated and hosted by Mr A Dinesh Babu, A.P./ECE.

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering , SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani Campus organized an event of Startup Club’s 7 th AARAMBH’22 – Youth Startup Summit on 09-09-2022. The inauguration of the event took place at 10.30AM on 09-09-2022 in Auditorium, Dr.A.Shirly Edward, HOD/ECE welcomed the gathering and Dr.C.Gomathy, Vice Principal (Academics and Placements) delivered the inaugural address. The Cheif Guest Mr. Chandu Nair, who is an alumni of IIM Ahmadabad and Venture Capital, Angel Investor as well Independent Director – Shankara Building Products. He delivered a enthusiastic thought provoking speech which enlightened the thought process of budding engineers towards entrepreneurship and startups. He nicely orated his own ups and downs of entrepreneurship journey. The participants were so interactive and raised many queries and got it clarified.
In the afternoon session, panel discussion on the topic “ Behind the Scenes of Startups” moderated by Mr.Guruprakash Sivabalan, Founder and CEO of Xobin Technologies Private Limited was organized. The panel members are from very diverse fields of startups including Mr.Richie Richard and Mr Aravind S, Founders of Meen Satti, Cloud Kitchen, Mr Jose Samuel Raj, Managing Director – ECO Industries and Mr Joseph Jeravin Sampras G, Co-Founder of Tradesala E-Commerce Private Limited. The notable point here is that all the panel members and moderators are alumni of SRM Institutions. The discussion went on very well with much interactions and participants felt that the event was very useful and productive. The vote of thanks was proposed by the faculty coordinator of the event Mr A Dinesh Babu, Assistant Professor (Sr.G.)/ECE. The entire event was coordinated by faculty coordinators Mr A Dinesh Babu, Mrs A Vasuki and student team of AARAMBH Startup Club.

The awareness program titled “ A Journey into Startups” was jointly organised by the startup club AARAMBH and IETE Students Forum (ISF) on 27.03.2023. The inauguration of the event took place at 10.30AM in the auditorium, Dr.A.Shirly Edward, HOD/ECE welcomed the gathering and Dr.C.Gomathy, Vice Principal (Academics and Placements) felicitated the chief guest Mr. AKASH J – CEO, ATUMX INNOVATIONS PVT.LIMITED.
Mr. Akash introduced his startup, ATUMX, and shared his personal experience in the startup world.
He began by sharing his personal journey in the startup world, which provided valuable insights for the student participants. He then discussed the critical components of building a successful startup, including identifying a problem, generating ideas, validating those ideas, assessing potential markets, securing funding, developing products, and implementing effective marketing strategies.
To emphasize the importance of teamwork in the startup world, Mr. Akash used popular Hollywood movie characters as examples. The Hulk represented the need for strength and tenacity, Iron Man exemplified the importance of innovation and creativity, and Captain America highlighted the significance of leadership and teamwork.
During the Q & A session, Mr. Akash engaged with the student participants and addressed a range of questions related to startup challenges and opportunities. He drew on his personal experiences to provide real-world examples and practical advice, which added value to the session.
The vote of thanks from the Student Coordinator, Mr. Akshay Prasad, was a fitting end to the presentation, reflecting the appreciation of the student community for the valuable insights and knowledge shared by Mr. Akash. Overall, the presentation was a valuable learning experience for the participants, providing them with an understanding of the critical factors that go into building a successful startup.

The Institution of Engineers (India) is the national organization of engineers in India. The Institution of Engineers (India) has more than one million members in 15 engineering disciplines in 125 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the world’s largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in engineering and technology world. It is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in engineering. The Institution of Engineers (India) conducts an examination of its associate membership. This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Institution of Engineers (India) is a first professional body to represent India in several International Bodies, such as the World Mining Congress (WMC), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council (CEC), the Federation International du Beton (fib), and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA).
In ECE department, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani the student chapter was inaugurated on 10th February 2020 with 100 student members. The Student Chapter serves as a gateway to forums, panel discussions, and symposia that further a student’s professional development. It serves as a hub of activity for IEI members and the engineering community at large. IEI student chapters engage members through talks and visits from prominent speakers, technical and career workshops, field trips to various relevant sites and social activities.

This forum serves as a platform for students to further increase their technical and leadership skills in scientific and technical areas of electronics and telecommunication technology.
