On 31st January 2023, the Design and Innovation Club of DCSE, SRMIST VDPcampus organized the National Hackfest 2023 comprising of 2 events – Hackathon and Codathon.

The event was supported by SRM Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell. The Codathon is a contest which tests the coding skills of school students varying from classes 10th – 12th. Hackathon is a 24 hours contest from 11 a.m. of 31st January 2023 to 11 a.m. of 1st February 2023 for college students. The Chief Guest for the events was Ms. A. Radhika, IPS, IGP – Armed Police.The Guest of honor was Mr. S. Priyadarshan, Vice-Chairman, PSP Medical College & Apollo Group of Colleges, who wished the participants with their wise words and experiences.
Ms. A Radhika enlightened the students on the harmful addictions of social media. She pointed the cons of over usage of mobile phones and how hard it affects the student lives. Mr. S. Priyadarshan, shared his vision and future goals with the students and motivated the students into the field of entrepreneurship.
Around 15 schools from Chennai participated in the Codathon 2023 contest. The winner was DAV Boys Hr Sec School and the runner up title was shared by two schools namely Chennai Public School and DAV Boys Hr Sec School.
The valedictory function of the HackFest 2023 took place on 1/2/23. The Chief Guest for the Valedictory function was Mr.Venkatarenga Gupta, Chairman of Swarnatantra Group of Companies and Managing Director, Deep Sphere.AI India Pvt Ltd. The winner of the hackathon was Team Maverick from SRM Ramapuram, first runner up was team Techno-Titans from SA Engineering College and second runner up was team Pearls-AI from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus. Codathon was coordinated by Mr.Rajavel, DCSE & Hackathon by Mrs.M.Indumathy and Mrs.D.Punitha – DCSE,VDP campus.
