The Department of Mathematics organized a Guest Lecture on “Applied Differential Equations in Engineering” on 06th October 2025 (Monday) at the Auditorium, III floor, SRM IST, Vadapalni Campus from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the applications of differential equations in various branches of engineering.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address, followed by a brief Introduction of the resource person by Ms.S.Supriya, III-ECE-DS.

Dr. C.Rajesh, Head of the Department of Mathematics, honoured the resource person with a shawl as a token of appreciation and gratitude for his valuable contribution.

Dr. K. Kaliraj, RIASM, delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the importance of differential equations in modelling and solving real-time engineering problems. He discussed various types of differential equations and their applications in mechanical, electrical, and other engineering contexts. The session also included practical examples demonstrating how mathematical models are used to analyse engineering systems.

Students actively participated in the interactive session and clarified their doubts on the topic. The lecture provided an excellent opportunity for the students to link theoretical mathematical concepts with practical engineering applications.

The event concluded with a Vote of thanks proposed by Dr. N.Rameshan, Asst.Prof.(Sr.G), Dept. of Maths., expressing gratitude to the Management, Dean, Vice Principal (Academics), Head of the Department, and the Resource Person for their valuable contribution and support in organizing the session successfully.

Around 200 students from ECE, ECE (DS) & Mechanical engineering departments participated enthusiastically and gained valuable insights from the lecture. Overall, the session was informative, interactive, and highly beneficial to the students of the engineering programs.
