SYNC (Society for Young Networking Coders) is a nascent student coding community formed by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM IST, Vadapalani campus. It was conceived with the aim of motivating students to get involved in hard core programming. The short term goal is to provide student mentorship for first year students and introduce them to various programming languages. The long term goal is to groom themselves for competitive coding challenges, development of in-house web pages and tools, building community based student projects etc. There are multiple groups within the community where the members are organised according to their interest and expertise in areas like learning new programming languages, solving Data Structure problems and UI/UX design. The members meet every week and sharpen their programming skills through self mentoring and discussions. The first successful event organised by SYNC was a two week long Fundamentals of C workshop for the first year Engineering students during 1 – 27 September, 2023. The community is currently evolving and all the students are welcome to join the community and get benefited.
